Kmart’s Christmas Angels!
In case you haven’t heard this wonderful story (to get you in the Christmas spirit), over the last few weeks dozens of Kmart shoppers have had their layaway accounts paid off by total strangers.
The Associated Press picked up this story a few days ago. It seemed this giving spree started in Michigan, and was then been repeated at Kmarts in Nebraska, Iowa, Indiana, and Montana, and even at a couple of Wal-marts in Illinois!
With all of the tragic news on TV and many still feeling the brunt of these tough economic times, it is easy to become cynical about the world we live in – even during the holidays. For many people, these mystery donors have changed all that. “It was like an angel fell out of the sky and appeared in our store,” said one Kmart employee.
Whatever their motivation, these “angels” wanted to make a difference in someone’s life this Christmas. The AP article said that the benefactors generally asked to help families who are want to purchase items for young children. The impact has been enormous -“I was speechless,” said one recipient. “It made me believe in Christmas again.”
Whatever your reason for making a difference in someone’s life this holiday season, no matter how big or small you think it might be, know that it will be truly rewarding. It is never to late to get involved and do something for someone else. The change you can bring about might be greater than you can ever imagine.
