It’s Gala Time!
It is a busy time of year in the BHS offices, and we’ve been slow to update the blog recently because … it’s almost Spring Gala time!
If you’ve ever been involved in creating an event – from a wedding, to a child’s birthday party, or even Thanksgiving dinner – you’ve experienced the excitement, the stress, and even the sheer joy that comes with event planning. It can be quite a rush!
We’ve started to mail out our invitations this week. We had a wonderful designer who helped put it together around our “No Place Like Home” theme. Its very fitting for our affordable housing mission, and is also reminiscent of the Wizard of Oz… I wonder if anyone will wear red shoes!
You can see the entire invitation on our Gala Website – it is beautiful!
One of the best parts of planning the Spring Gala so far has been seeing how people come together to achieve a goal. Staff members have volunteered to work at the event, board members have involved their employers as corporate sponsors or auction donors, volunteers have donate their time & expertise to design invitations and websites, and countless others have helped recruit auction items, spread the word about BHS, and even re-organize our database. There are too many wonderful people to mention them all, but the outpouring of support has been incredible.
Lots will be happening in these next two months. Right now I’m excited to see how the Gala Website works out this year. For the first time guests can purchase tickets and even sponsorships online! (Special thanks to the folks over at DanceBoston.com for creating and maintaining the Gala site.) A few Gala committee members are excited about the food, and others are looking forward to the auction (who wouldn’t like the idea of winning a trip to Hawaii?!)
But one thing is certain – it is going to be a great night!
