Celebrating 20 years…a look back
This fall, Bethany Hill School kicks off our 20th Anniversary as a unique provider of affordable, educational housing. To mark this milestone, we plan to share stories and reminiscences from past and present residents, staff, Board members and volunteers. Below, we’re honored by former resident Bonita words. We’ll be posting throughout the year – so please contact us to share your own memory of Bethany Hill!
I moved to Bethany Hill School in 2000. It was my first apartment in Framingham, having come here from Boston.
I was impressed with the support that was available to me at BHS to reach my educational goals. My own goal was to finish my education, either by earning a GED or a high school diploma. For me, Bethany Hill School was a place where I found the motivation to get my education. Today, I am finishing up my Associates degree in Human Services at Mass Bay Community College. I plan to go on for my B.A. and then a Master’s degree in Social Work.
In addition to my education, I learned about gardening while I lived at BHS, and had my own plot in the community garden there. I was able, with the help of Sr. Denise, to get a job at Bethany health Care Center, where I worked for five years until I moved.
Residents should take advantage of the many opportunities that are offered to them while they are living in the Bethany Hill School community.
