Developing Skills to Cope and Learn

September 18, 2019

Why is resiliency so important for well-being and overall success?

Resiliency is the ability to face, overcome, and ultimately be strengthened by adversity and life’s challenges. It is teachable and learn-able. As people gain skills that promote resiliency – including problem solving, managing emotions, and an ability to reach out to others – they are better equipped to bounce back from challenges or crises.

At Bethany Hill Place, we provide programming and activities designed to promote resiliency.  We create a safe, nurturing environment where all are welcome and accepted.  We have clear and enforced expectations and boundaries, opportunities for decision-making, access to leadership roles, and an appreciation of achievement and unique talents.

For our children residents in particular, our mission allows us a deeper level of relationships, beliefs, and expectations for them, which resilience research shows fuels the successful development of children and a foundation for compassionate and creative people equipped to respond to our ever-changing world.

At Bethany Hill Place, we are committed to provide learning experiences that equip our residents with a combination of resiliency and other skills to ensure they have every opportunity to reach their full potential.
