The Winds of Hurricane Sandy
On Saturday, November 10th, while raking leaves and bagging yard debris, I came across an envelope rather wet and soggy. Thinking it was litter, I picked it up and was about to toss it in the trash when I noticed a return address in the upper corner of the envelope. I jotted a brief note, attached it to the envelope and walked up to the address indicated on the envelope. Unbeknown to me was that inside this envelope was a major charitable donation. How this piece of unstamped mail made it from a half mile away and into our yard remains indeed a mystery.
Yesterday, while I was at work I received a telephone message from a very grateful woman, who appreciated the return of her envelope. Today, in the mail I received a note of thanks and the enclosed donation.
You just never know what a new day has in store for us.
