The Winds of Hurricane Sandy

December 18, 2012
blowing-leaves

On Saturday, November 10th, while raking leaves and bagging yard debris, I came across an envelope rather wet and soggy.  Thinking it was litter, I picked it up and was about to toss it in the trash when I noticed a return address in the upper corner of the envelope.  I jotted a brief note, attached it to the envelope and walked up to the address indicated on the envelope.  Unbeknown to me was that inside this envelope was a major charitable donation.  How this piece of unstamped mail made it from a half mile away and into our yard remains indeed a mystery.

Yesterday, while I was at work I received a telephone message from a very grateful woman, who appreciated the return of her envelope.  Today, in the mail I received a note of thanks and the enclosed donation.

You just never know what a new day has in store for us.

Charlene Favreau, CSJ

(Sister Charlene, who has volunteered at Bethany Hill 18 years, shared this wonderful story and directed part of this generous gift to Bethany Hill School.   We are so grateful for this support and the ripple effect of an act of kindness!)
